Variation of branching pattern of axillary artery

چکیده
Introduction Axillary artery begins as a continuation of 3rd part of subclavian artery at the outer border of the first rib. It extends at the lower border of teres major muscle where it continues as the brachial artery. The pectoralis minor muscle divides the axillary artery into three parts. It usually gives off 6 branches. The 1st part which is medial to pectoralis minor muscle gives superior thoracic artery; the 2nd part which is deep to the above-mentioned muscle gives thoracoacromial and lateral thoracic arteries. The 3rd part lays lateral to the pectoralis minor and gives subscapular, anterior circumflex humeral and posterior circumflex humeral arteries. An extensive anastomosis is present between the branches of subclavian and axillary arteries around the dorsal surface of scapula.

A Rare Variation in Branching Pattern of the Internal Iliac Artery: A Case Report
Internal iliac artery (IIA) shows frequent variations in its branching pattern. We saw variations in the branching pattern of right IIA in a male cadaver. The IIA divided into anterior and posterior divisions. The branches of the anterior division included umbilical artery, inferior vesical artery, obturator artery. The other branches arose from posterior trunk such as iliolumbar, lateral s...

Axillary artery, the continuation of the Subclavian artery, initiates at the lateral border of the first rib and normally ends at the lower border of teres major, where it obtains the name of brachial artery. Variations in the branching pattern of the axillary artery are common. During a routine dissection of a 25-30-year-old man cadaver, based on the classic Grant’s method, in the Department o...
متن کاملClinically relevant variations in the origin and course of the radial artery
Background: The radial artery is an essential artery supplying the structures in the forearm. Variations in the radial artery concerning its origin, course, branching pattern, and mode of termination have been commonly reported. The high origin of the radial artery from either brachial or axillary artery was detected in numerous studies. Clinically-radial artery is used in cardiac catheterizati...
متن کاملVariant Branching Pattern of Axillary Artery: A Case Report
During routine dissection of an approximately 50-year-old male cadaver for the undergraduate medical students at Melaka Manipal Medical College, Manipal University, Manipal, we came across a variation in branching pattern of right axillary artery. The second part of axillary artery gave rise to a common trunk which divided into the subscapular and lateral thoracic arteries. The third part of ri...
متن کاملVariant Origin of an Arterial Trunk from Axillary Artery Continuing as Profunda Brachii Artery-A Unique Arterial Variation in the Axilla and its Clinical Implications
BACKGROUND Axillary artery is known to show different variations mostly in its branching pattern. Similarly, the origin of profunda brachii is often encountered with abnormality. Therefore, when the vascular variations in the upper limb persist, mostly it is confined to its branching pattern followed by its variant origin. But, among all the reported variations of profunda brachii, its variant ...
